Bank of Agric Unveils Plans to Support Kwara Farmers

By Modupe Gbadeyanka
The Bank of Agriculture (BoA) has disclosed that it would provide support to farmers in Kwara State to boost their yields.
Executive Director of the BOA in charge of Finance and Risk Management, Prince Niyi Akenzua, made this disclosure during a visit to the Kwara State Governor, Mr Abdulfatah Ahmed.
During the courtesy call, Mr Akenzua commended the Governor for his administration’s micro-credit intervention scheme for Small and Medium scale Enterprises (SMEs) in the state.
He described the state’s SMEs programme as well-structured, noting that the model does not exist in any other state of the federation.
While speaking on the purpose of their visit to the Governor, the Executive Director explained that the new management intends to partner with the state by providing farm implements such as tractors so as to ensure massive production of crops and stem the tide of rural-urban migration.
Governor Ahmed, in his response, advised the bank to attach importance to its anchor borrower’s scheme, maintaining that it was very critical in keeping farmers in the agric business.
He said the government was ready to take advantage of the partnership to expand its Off-Taker Demand Driving Agriculture scheme.
